A group of lawyers was blocked from accessing the Central Police Station in Kampala.

The lawyers who were led by the Uganda Law Society President Bernard Oundo were yesterday denied entrance by police officers because other lawyers had already been given access to the premises.

According to the lawyers, dozens of their clients were arrested during the Anti-Corruption demonstrations in Kampala on Tuesday.

On Tuesday  23rd July 2024, Lawyers visited Wandegeya, Kabalagala, and Makindye police stations in search of some of their clients.

Phillip Munaabi the ULS Board Member in Charge of Healthcare and Benevolent Fund said this is a deliberate move by the state actors.

Munaabi says if the protesters are demanding the resignation of one person, let that person resign to restore normalcy.

Another advocate, Ronald Samuel Wanda says they wanted only five lawyers inside but the number of people arrested is more and therefore calls for more lawyers to represent the suspects.

Three  NUP MPs and  six  other KCCA politicians spent the  night in jail over charges that arose from the events that preceded the protest
