The Ministry of Health has received an assortment of ICT equipment worth UGX 150M from Amref Health Africa, in collaboration with other development partners.
While receiving the equipment the Under Secretary at the Ministry Mr Kenneth Akiili who represented the Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng said that the equipment consists of desktops, laptops, UPSs, and internet-providing MiFi, will help in strengthening the country's health system.
“The equipment will greatly enhance our capacity to manage health supplies, ensure data accuracy, and improve the overall efficiency of our health systems. Such advancements are essential in achieving our national health goals and ensuring that no one is left behind”, Mr Akiili stated.
He also commended the organization for its exceptional work in improving people’s lives,” Your dedication and innovative approaches are making a profound impact on the lives of many Ugandans.”
Dr. Patrick Kagurusi, the Amref Health Lead, notes that the equipment will support 30 health facilities in different districts namely Bugiri, Budaka, Namayingo, Bukwo Iganga, Kalangala , Mayuge, and Kween
“This particular intervention comes as a result of an assessment that was done in the districts mentioned above where we found that there was a gap in managing the productive health commodities, ensuring that there’s efficient use of the medicines, there’s no stock out ”Kagurusi explained.
”The assessment showed that there was a lack of equipment that would be used to manage these medicines for this intervention is to provide this equipment with a continuous internet service so that there’s continuous efficient management of the medicines”, Kagurusi added
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health received the ICT equipment from Amref Health Africa and other partners namely MIFUMI and Cordaid International, under their programme dubbed Heroes For Gender Transformative Action with support from the Embassy of Netherlands in Uganda.
