- Government asked to provide tax exemptions and incentives to Small and Medium Entrepreneurs to enable graduates to start their own businesses.
Graduates have been advised to further their studies as a way of updating their knowledge and skills.
Speaking at the 10th graduation ceremony for AFFCAD Business and Vocational Institute, Principal Nyombi Jaffar notes that graduates who don’t go for further studies end up being obsolete which limits their productivity in the community.
“If you stop learning, you stop living”,Nyombi stated “Getting a certificate doesn’t mean that it’s the end, we live in a very competitive world where academic papers enable you to easily access the job market, therefore use the certificate to upgrade ”
While officiating at the same event, the Youth Chairperson BwaiseII Lufula zone Mutesasira Robert advised the Government to provide tax exemptions and incentives to Small and Medium Entrepreneurs to enable the youth including some of the graduates to start their businesses.
“The high cost of starting and operating businesses in Uganda leaves the youth most especially graduates unemployed which calls for tax exemptions”
He also urged the government to closely monitor Youth Empowerment Programs so that the right people, the graduates fully benefit.
Meanwhile, 65 students were awarded certificates, in different disciplines such as Hair Dressing, Tailoring, and Computer Application among others.
