Hearing of 25 Criminal Appeals Begins at Mbarara High Court

The Court of Appeal at Mbarara High Court has commenced a crucial three-day session, set to conclude on Wednesday 4th September 2024 , focusing on 25 criminal appeals. 

This session is presided over by a panel of distinguished Justices: Lady Justice Eva Luswata, Justice Oscar Kihika, and Justice Dr. Asa Mugenyi.

According to the cause list prepared by HW Lillian Bucyana, the Court’s Deputy Registrar, the docket for this session includes a substantial number of serious cases. Of the 25 appeals, 12 pertain to murder, while 11 involve defilement. 

Additionally, there is one appeal each concerning aggravated robbery and rape.In preparation for this session, a pre-hearing case management meeting was conducted to ensure the efficient handling of the appeals. 

This strategic planning aims to streamline the judicial process and address each case with the thoroughness it demands.
