Indians demand recognition as a tribe in Uganda.

The indian community in Uganda has asked legislators to fast track a constitutional amendment so as to recognise muyindi as a tribe in Uganda.This was disclosed by the Hon Consul of Nepal to Uganda Dr Sudhir Ruparelia.

Sudhir made the remarks as he officiated at the 7^th Pan-African Pyramid Global Awards (PAP) Global Awards) 2024 and 10^th Anniversary Bonfire Dinner held at Fairway Hotel in Kampala. Dr Sudhir who is also Uganda's top Business man,investor and employer was also recognized at the awards.

Sudhir Ruparelia  is the chairman and majority shareholder in the Ruparelia Group companies .

With a net worth of 800 million dollars, his investments are mainly in , insurance, education, broadcasting, real estate, horticulture ,hotels and resorts sectors with a workforce of ten thousand people.

He says recognising the Indian community as a Ugandan tribe is a sign of respect, unity and honor for people who have lived in Uganda for over 120 years.

At the same event President Yoweri Museveni was honored for championing African unity and integration.

He is also honored for Advocating for Economic reliance and value addition to African raw materials.
