The police have revealed that they will not rush to draw conclusions on how NUP President Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert was injured until a thorough investigation is completed. While videos circulating on social media show the NUP President receiving assistance after sustaining injuries, the police emphasize that a professional assessment is required to determine the exact circumstances.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening ay following an altercation involving Kyagulanyi, his supporters, and the police as he was leaving the home of City lawyer George Musisi in Bulindo, Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District.

During a press briefing at Naguru police headquarters, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner of Police Kituuma Rusoke clarified that Kyagulanyi's supporters had blocked traffic and initiated a procession, which the police could not allow.

Kituuma Rusoke presented various videos showing National Unity Platform supporters holding processions, blocking traffic, and even attempting to control traffic—actions that are illegal.

The situation escalated when stones were thrown at the police, resulting in injuries to three officers and damage to two vehicles. The police responded by using tear gas to disperse the crowd.

In the midst of the dispersal, officers observed Kyagulanyi stumbling before his close supporters assisted him into a nearby vehicle that took him to the hospital. Kituuma emphasized that the police cannot ignore such violent acts, as maintaining law and order is their duty.

He also highlighted that when there is a lack of communication between political actors and the police, incidents of hooliganism and violence are likely to occur, putting others at risk.

Kituuma concluded by urging the public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the facts and address any potential irregularities.
