Kiruddu National Referral Hospital has been accorded the SANAS status from the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).

It has been certified as a Ugandan Hospital that meets international standards in respect of Conformity Assessment, Calibration and Good Laboratory Practice.

Kirudu is a Government Hospital directly managed by the Ministry of Health and attends to all reffered patients from all over the country and also serves as a teaching hospital for medical students of the College of Health Sciences of Makerere University.

The hospital has a capacity of 200 beds for inpatient treatment and 14 outpatient clinics, which serve approximately 300-500 patients daily.

According to Dr Charles Kabugo Kirudu Hospital has the largest infectious disease ward in the country, as well as the only ward specializing in the treatment of patients with burns.

He urges members of the public with complications to get to hospital early because early treatment leads to cure of most complications .

Haji Mugisha Ereazer the Principal Hospital Administrator says government has increased the supply of beds to enable the upgrade the intensive care unit from three beds to 9 beds so as to avail intensive care services to the patients in a bid to save lives.
