King Oyo applauded for marketing Uganda as a tourist destination

His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, King of Tooro Kingdom has been applauded for his efforts towards marketing Uganda as a tourist destination.

During his just concluded 29th coronation anniversary in Tooro, the King through his kingdom organized a number of tourism excursions for his subjects, his guests and the public at large at a discounted price.

This was mainly aimed at showcasing the natural beauty and attraction of Tooro Kingdom and Uganda as a tourist destination.

Some of the guided tours included Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest, Crater Lake hiking, Karuzika (Royal palace)  tour, Mabere ga Nyinamwiru and Sempaya hot springs among others.

King Oyo himself led a group of over 50 people including his guests from the United States to an adventurous bird watching activity in Kibale National Park, a home to more than 370 bird species.

Lead by experienced guides the team was able to see a number of beautiful birds as well as appreciate the high forest vegetation.

“I have enjoyed it, it has been an eye opener, we have been able to see a number of bird species and we hope with this we can attract both local and foreign tourists to come see what Kibale has to offer”, said the King after the one hour trail walk.

Ntoroko County legislator also Minister of State for Tourism,Wildlife and Antiquities Bahinduka Mugarra Martin who was part of the group commended the King for boosting Uganda’s Tourism Sector.

“King Oyo has been a champion in selling Uganda as a destination. Whenever he has an opportunity he has he does that, and as a ministry we shall always partner with the kingdom to support his efforts “said the minister.
