David Balondemu, the embattled chairperson of the Kampala District Land Board, has once again been remanded to Luzira Prison.

This follows his appearance in court on new charges of forgery related to falsified medical documents, allegedly created to secure bail in an ongoing fraud case.

The 52-year-old land board chairperson, along with Dr. Ssegujja Hassan, a physician at Mulago Hospital, is accused of forging medical forms, including a prescription form dated November 7, 2023, and a CT scan report dated June 12, 2023.

Both are facing two counts of forgery and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony. The charges stem from actions that allegedly took place in 2023 at Kampala Hospital in Kampala City.

Balondemu appeared before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Despite his plea, the court ruled that he would be remanded until October 21, 2024, when the case will return for further mention.

Prosecution, led by Viola Using Tusingwire, requested additional time to verify the new documents submitted by Balondemu as part of his fresh bail application.

The court will also decide on this bail application at the next hearing.
