Over 30,000 Sickle Cell Patients Benefit From Kabaka's Birthday Run Proceeds.

 More than thirty thousand sickle cell patients have benefited from Kabaka's birthday run proceeds that were used to purchase sickle cell kits to test and provide treatment.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s sickle cells awareness month which is observed worldwide, Winfred Lalani one of the Board members of the Uganda sickle cell Rescue foundation says the decision by the Buganda kingdom to purchase test kits for all Ugandans who wish to test for sickle cells has saved many lives across the country

The Kabaka's Birthday Run is an annual event organized by Buganda Kingdom to celebrate the birthday of the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom and in a bid to fight the spread of sickle cells and provide treatment to patients,the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II dedicated all proceeds from this year's birthday run towards the  purchase of test kits from china through the Ministry of Health to carry out sickle cell tests across the country.

The Uganda sickle cell Rescue foundation mainly focuses on providing sickle cell awareness and Education in communities,advocates against the stigma associated with sickle cells,conducts free public screening and gives support to sickle cell management and care in Uganda.
