Government urged to train and deploy mental health workers in Health centers.

Mental Health experts have called on the government to start training and deploying mental health workers in all health centers across the country so as to decongest Butabika Hospital.

Hundreds of people across the country with mental cases have Butabika Hospital as the only option for treatment and care yet Butabika is meant to be for serious  cases.

Speaking at the auspices of world mental health day, Monsignor David Cappo the chief executive of You Belong a community based mental rehabilitation organization says Uganda's mental cases can reduce if government adopts an integrated public health system.

As part of the activities,the mental Health Act 2019 was also launched.

The Mental Health Act that has commenced after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni accented to it covers the reception, care and treatment of mentally disordered people,the management of their property and other related matters, forming part of the mental health law.
