The Bunyoro-Tooro Muslim Regional Kadhi, Sheikh Muhammad Irumba has finally been relieved of his duties after refusing to page way for an investigation into his alleged abused office, causing financial loss on top of tarnishing the Image of Islam and that of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council by failling to unit them.
Sheikh Irumba was sacked by the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje following months of investigations into the said allegations.
Your refusal to comply to the terms and conditions therein, particularly to give way for investigations after a successful impeachment by the regional council as well as behaving in a manner which offended the UMSC, Islam and unbefitting the office of the Regional Kadhi, you have tarnished the name of UMSC in the public as well as causing financial loss.Sheikh Mubajje.
His Eminence appointed Sheikh Abdul Hakim Kirarira, the Jadhi Kasese Muslim District in acting capacity as the Bunyoro-Tooro Regional Kadhi during a regional council meeting held at Bwikya hill in Hoima Oil City.
In the said meeting, the Regional Treasurer Yahaya Byarufu was directed h to answer to charges of insubordination and reminded Muslims that Hajji Majidu Bagonza is the official chairman of Bunyoro -Tooro Region known by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC.
The Mufti also dropped the acting Kadhi Bunyoro Muslim District Sheikh Edris Songolo for incompetence and appointed Sheikh Musa Babanja Atwooki in an acting capacity.
He directed Bunyoro Muslim district council to nominate three candidates and forward their names to his office for verification before one is appointed Kadhi and asked the police to impound all vehicles belonging to Bunyoro Muslim District Council-BMDC and hand them over to Sheikh Musa Babanja who will assume office this Friday.
The meeting also resolved that Bunyoro Regional Secretary Rashid Kagwa be investigated by the regional secretary for holding two jobs. In May this year, the Supreme Mufti suspended Sheikh Irumba from office for failure to allegedly unit Muslims in Bunyoro- Tooro region.
The Mufti noted that the Muslim Regional Administration was established to bridge the gap between the headquarters and lower administrative structure, and more especially to unite Muslims.
However, the Mufti accused Sheikh Irumba of failing to unite the Muslims of Bunyoro- Muslim region.
According to the Supreme Mufti, this has disrupted the smooth running of council work.End
