Police officer's son charged with defilement and remanded

A student of Makerere College School  has been  charged with defilement.

Owen Sabiiti aged 18 years pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Kampala city hall court grade one magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise . 

Its alleged that Sabiiti performed a sexual act with a 16 year old girl at Kira Road Police Barracks where he stays.

Sabiiti is battling with the offence of simple defilement of neighbor's daughter. The father of the victim and the accused are both police officers and residents of Kira Road police Barracks.

He committed the alleged offense on January 2nd 2022 at Kiira Road police Barracks in Kampala.

Still in the same court a 32 year old man was  remanded to Kitalya government prison over aggravated human trafficking. 

Yusufu Onegui a resident of Nakulabye was charged  with two counts of aggravated trafficking in person and attempted defilement. 

Prosecution led by Viola Tusingwire alleged that on January 2nd 2022 at Kamwokya Ice Inn Lodge, the accused received, transported or harboured Shiela Aber Birabwa a child aged 16 years by means of deception or other forms of coercion.

Its further stated  that on the same date and the accused attempted to defile the trafficked girl in the same lodge.

He was remanded until January 27th 2022 when he returns to court for mention of the case. 

Meanwhile more than 20 people were charged and sent on remand for disobedience of lawful orders.The group was pleaded guilty to the charge when they appeared before Kampala City hall court grade one magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise who read to them the charges and pleaded guilty. 

According to prosecution, in the month of January 2022 in the Kampala district, all accused persons disobeyed orders of the President of Uganda by moving during curfew hours without observing the set  COVID- 19  standard operations.

They will appear again in court on   January 18th 2022 for sentencing.
