Inspector of schools summoned over children burnt in dormitory

Police have summoned the Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA  Inspector of Schools for Kawempe and the school director to explain circumstances under which fire gutted a  girls' dormitory at New Crest Junior at Kibedi Day and boarding Primary School in Kawempe Division Kampala .

Those wanted by police are KCCA Inspector of Schools and school director Hajji Abdu Kibedi have been summoned to make statements on the matter.

Four children died in the blaze which police attributed to negligence on the side of the school management since the dormitory didn't have fire extinguishers,and fire alarm .

The pupils  who died as a result of suffocation have been named as  six year old Tina Deni of South Sudan ,Nabaweesi Bushira six year,  both in  primary one and Nakawuki Hasina seven  years, Nakalanzi Juliana seven ear all in  primary two .

Three pupils and their matron are nursing injuries they sustained.

According to  police spokesperson Fred Enanga school  headmaster Sseruwu Twaha, the teacher on duty Ahmed Ssengoba and Hamid  Kabibi, the school warden have been arrested.

  The police spokesperson said the Inspector of Schools will be required to explain whether the school had been well inspected before allowing it to operate.
