Prosecution has presented its first witness and tendered in a video that, they claim Kawempe North MP Muhammed Ssegirinya posted on his Social Media inciting the Public.

A Journalist and an  Editor working for a state owned media House UBC, Naiga Juliet testified  in Court and revealed that she was hired to Transcribe and Translate the alleged video on the orders of CID.

While appearing before Buganda Road Court Grade one Magistrate Sienna Owomugisha, Naiga revealed that she was asked to Transcribe and Translate MP Ssegirinya's video that was video tapped mainly in Luganda.

She explained that she came to do the same job after  the Criminal Investigations Department requested UBC to help them with  Transcribing and translating the alleged tweet that Ssegirinya allegedly posted  via his Facebook Muhammad Ssegirinya Fans page.

Naiga told Court that  Some of the statements she translated stated that "Am warning you, whoever attempts to assassinate President Robert Kyagulanyi, the repercussions will be worse 40 times worse than the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda".

Prosecution led by Peter Mugisha and assisted by Peter Kyaze tendered  in court the alleged video and played it back to show how Ssegirinya's words were inciting.

Her Worship Owomugisha accepted the said video footage as an exhibit that will be relied on as evidence against Ssegirinya.

However, Ssegirinya's Lawyer and Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende has objected to the said prosecution witness on grounds that she was not qualified to do the said work.

According to Lawyer Malende, her testimony can not be relied on since she could not translate all the alleged inciting words in English.

Meanwhile, Ssegirinya who appeared in Court via zoom asked court to allow him physically attend Court next time.

Court adjourned the matter to the 22nd of March 2022.

Ssegirinya is currently on remand with fellow MP Allan Ssewanyana on charges of Murder and Terrorism in relation to the Masaka Bijambiya murders in which over 10 people especially the elderly were hacked to death.
