The leader of the National Unity Platform Robert Kyagulanyi has called for the isolation of the National Resistance Movement government regime.

Kyagulanyi who was invited by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Matthias Mpuuga, made the remarks when asked by journalists about what had transpired in his meeting with a delegation from the US Department of state-led by Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labour Ms. Lisa Peterson and Ambassador Natalie Brown.

Although he did not delve deeper into the agenda he said that he reiterated calls to the international community and development partners to stop associating with Uganda’s revolutionary leader Yoweri Museveni over violation and abuse of human rights.

Kyagulanyi says that with the current disrespect of human rights, the NRM regime should be isolated until sanity is restored in the country.

On the issue of dialoging with the government, Kyagulanyi affirmed that they won’t dialogue with the current regime which behaves like “a wild animal” adding that as the leading opposition party, they cannot talk “while the oppressors boot is on their neck”.

Meanwhile, Robert Kyagulanyi has reaffirmed that Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake is still their commissioner of parliament noting that the process through which parliament used to censure Zaake was irregular and illegal.

He says as NUP maintains Zaake as their commissioner.

This also comes at the time when Zaake has filed a case in the constitutional court challenging his censure on the position of a commissioner.
