DIGP directs commander to act on Churches, bars over noise pollution.

The deputy inspector general of police Maj Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi has directed police commanders including DPC's and RPC"s to take action on places that pollute noise.

Addressing journalists at the police headquarters at Naguru, Maj Gen Katsigazi said lately noise levels have gone up during the day and night , noting that something needs to be done to solve the problem.

He noted that from now on, police commanders will visit places of entertainment, bars, churches and homes that emit high sound that he said inconveniences other members of the public.

According to Katsigazi, there are laws governing this country , adding that these ought to be respected by everyone including churches.

He warned that churches that play loud music around the night are not above the law and will also be targeted during the operations against noise pollution.

The deputy police chief however urged other authorities like KCCA, parliament and NEMA to also join police in ensuring the environment is protected through reduction of noise levels.

General Tumusiime Katsigazi also re echoes owners of the public places to re enforce the laws of fighting terrorism in the country.

He says that terrorism is real and needs to be fought jointly by working today with security counter terrorism and other stakeholders.

He calls upon all public places , hotels, hospitals, guest houses among others to have mechanisms of checking their customers and followers.
