Government of Uganda has implemented a number of programs aimed at creating employment specifically for youths.

These policies consist of those aimed at providing an enabling environment for the private sector to create jobs as well as those geared towards building the skills and requisite knowledge to make youths more employable .

As a boost to some of these policies, Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has embarked on a robust training and orientation to finalists in public universities in Uganda.

This is in a bid to prepare them for employment.the initiative is party of the ready to work project being implemented by UMA in partnership with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and ABSA Bank of Uganda Limited.

The project assists new graduates from vocational and university institutions in gaining practical skills through soft skills training and internship placement in order to improve their access to the labor market.

Mubaraka Nkuutu Director Business Development at UMA says they have so far taken on two thousand students who already have been absorbed by companies in the country.

He made the remarks at the Human Resource Networking meeting  organized to discuss "Sustainable placement strategy, strengthening training institutions with companies.
