The Inspector General of Police Martins Okoth Ochola has directed all the regional police commanders to implement President Museveni's  directive of removing all roadblocks and barriers on all major roads and highways across the  country with immediate effect.

Last week the president directed that  all road blocks and barriers on Ugandan highways  be removed because they inconvenience traders and businessmen.

Addressing a news conference at the Police headquarters Naguru, Fred Enanga the police spokesperson revealed that all police commanders have been directed to implement this directive with immediate effect.

Enanga asked the public to report any police officer they find staging any road block to the National Operations Command center on 0800199699 or 0707600773 because they are now illegal.

He  further warned  that officers who will be found disobeying the lawful order of the president by continuing to  illegally elect road blocks and road barriers will suffer dire consequences.

Enanga called upon members of the public to be vigilant and report such officers to authorities for reprimand.

He assured the public not to panic because police the  integrated highway patrol unit will be in place to help fight criminals along highways and errant drivers.

Enanga said police from  the integrated Highway patrol will remain patrolling all the major roads and highways to ensure security.
