Detectives at CID Kibuli have widened their investigations in regards to a suspect who was arrested from Lubigi Swamp with over 10,000 National Identification cards after he was linked to a case of aggravated robbery.
The suspect identified as Tarwana Hakim alias Umaru was arrested during an enforcement operation of evicting people who had settled in Lubigi Swamp, which was conducted by Police at Nansana and the NEMA enforcement team.
During the operation, Tarwana Hakim was found in possession of 10,722 National IDs, 68 passports, 237 driving licenses, ATM cards and police warrant cards.
According to Nabaka Claire the deputy Police spokesperson, Tarwana Hakim was found with a National ID belonging to Katwebaza Maureen who had earlier been attacked and robbed off her belongings while on Tirinyi - Busia Road.
Nabaka Claire says that Tarwana Hakim who is currently on remand at Budaka Prison on charges of aggravated robbery in relation to Katwebaza Maureen's attack has been linked to several other robberies.She revealed that detectives at CID headquarters Kibuli have expanded their investigations into the matter following the recovery of the documents but appealed to members of the public with missing National IDs to visit CID headquarters Kibuli to see whether they are part of the ones they recovered from Lubigi Swamp.
