Socialite Sipapa and Wife committed to high court for trial

The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that City socialite Charles Olimu aka Sipapa together with his wife Shamira Nakiyimba be tried before the High court over aggravated robbery. 

On Monday Makindye magistrate court  chief magistrates Esther Adikini committed the couple to face trial .

Prosecution led by State Attorney Edward Muhumuza  says it will adduce evidence on trial  that Sipapa along with his wife Shamirah Nakiyimba  bought luxurious cars and items using money well knowing that it( money )  was  proceeds of a crime.

Sipapa who is described as a music promoter , a Gold and car dealer together with his wife face charges of aggravated robbery, money laundering and office breaking .

The couple was  arrested by police from their home in Kira Municipality for using a harmful substance to render their victims  who are South Sudan nationals unconscious before robbing them of their properties  including money , laptops , phones ,  TV screens and a Golden belt.

They allegedly committed the offences between  August 23rd and  29th 2022 at Bunga in Kawuku Ggaba and other places .

The Director of Public  Prosecution   informed court that at trial, she will rely on witness statements and exhibits that include US Dollars , South Sudanese Dollars , the contaminated substance and laptops to prove robbery against Sipapa.

The pair has been returned to Luzira prison until they will be called by the High court for trial  at its next convenient session.
