Speaker Among Dismisses UGX 100M Bribe Allegations

The speaker of parliament Anita Among has dismissed claims that each Member of Parliament is yet to receive 100 million shillings as a token of appreciation to  pass the supplementary budget worth Shs3.5 trillion shillings. 

Among said the claims are  diversionary, and a strategy used by politicians who are getting money for homosexuality to cover their dirt using parliament.

She said that parliament will not waste time on misleading information aimed at benefiting a few individuals.

“We cannot allow to be diverted by the gay movement who are receiving foreign aid to erode our culture.

If you are getting their money, selling your country keep quiet,” Among said after, tasking the Chairperson Budget Committee, Ignatius Wamakuyu Mudimi to substantiate whether Parliament was included on the entities to benefit from the Supplementary Budget.

Members of Parliament criticized the individuals spreading rumors with Bukimbiri County MP, Eddie Kwizera proposing that the culpable members be compelled to make statements in Parliament.Bukanga County MP, Hon. Nathan Byanyima observed the need to emphasize the decorum expected of Members of Parliament, saying some of them are ‘below the bar.

The criticism comes after  allegations by Butambala county MP Mohammed Muwanga Kivumbi that parliament had passed the supplementary budget worth Shs3.5 trillion were they included money to distribute to Mps,for allowing the money they had previously rejected. 

The National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi also warned his members not to dare receive this money.
