Bulenga Robbery: Machete Attack Sparks Police Investigation

Security operatives in Bulenga, Wakiso district have launched an investigation into circumstances under which two machete wielding men robbed a motorcycle from a boda boda rider.

The two suspects have been identified as Amanya Joel and another known as one Ibrah who hired Muganzi Felix, a boda boda rider to transport them to Nakuwadde area but on reaching a dark area, they viciously attacked him with a panga in a bid to rob the motorcycle.

During the scuffle, Muganzi bravely resisted, managing to overpower one of the assailants, Amanya Joel, with the assistance of local residents. However, the other perpetrator, identified as Ibra fled the scene with Muganzi's motorcycle.

Luke Owoyesigyire Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman said the swift response of the Bulenga Police Station led to the apprehension of Amanya Joel and the recovery of Muganzi's stolen motorcycle.

He further adds that during the investigation, the police discovered a cache of five suspected stolen motorcycles and eight motorcycle number plates at Muganda Ali Garage in Natete Rubaga division.During the ongoing recovery 12 suspects were arrested to assist in the investigation.

Police named the suspects as Buye Peter, Kizza Enock, Kayondo Isma, Ssenyondo Edward, Sekiwala Joseph, Ssempijja Mahadhi , Luwaga Swabul, Lujja Christopher, Sseruga Muzamir ,Mukuye and Birungi Abdul Mutwalib (17 years of age

"We would like to assure the public that our investigations into this matter are ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this criminal activity are brought to justice,” says Owoyesigyire.

He adds that the hunt is on to arrest the owner of Muganda Ali Garage who is currently on the run.Relatedly the Police in North West Nile region and Arua CPS, carried out targeted operations and raids, on criminal hubs, within 17 cells in Arua City, where 59 notorious gang members were arrested and also impounded 15 motorcycles.These were being used in ride-along attacks and robberies of pedestrians, women, business people, civil servants and other members of the community. “The thugs would snatch smartphones, bags, wallets, and other valuables, while on the motorcycles, or stop and put victims on knife-point, and rob from them,” police says.
