The footage, which quickly spread across social platforms, led to the swift identification and arrest of the perpetrators. Alongside Opanya, Samuel Azabo, the individual who recorded the video, was also apprehended. Both men were wearing black attire similar to the counter-terrorism uniform of the Uganda Police Force during the incident.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrests and identified the victim as Isaac Kitooke, who was on the police's wanted list. Kitooke has been issued a police form to seek a medical checkup, which will aid in the ongoing investigations.
