Ministry of Finance releases Money for the first quarter.

The Ministry of Finance has released 5.899 trillion shillings for Various Ministries, Local Governments,agencies and departments for the first quarter of the financial year 2024-2025. 

Of the disbursement for the quarter that runs from July to September 2024,1.990 trillion will cater for wages and salaries, 3.371 trillion for Non-wages,3.37 trillion for Government development and 199.83 trillion for arrears. 

In a circular accompanying the realese the permanent secretary also secretary to Treasury Ramathan Ggoobi directed all accounting officers to urgently pay the service providers and clear domestic arrears to avoid further accumulation of arrears and penalties.

Ggoobi also implored the accounting officers to pay the salaries, pensions and gratuity on time,emphasizing the this should be effected by 28th day of every month.

According to the released money 1.990 trillion shillings will cater for wages and salaries across Government. 3.23.50 billion will go to pensions and gratuity. 308.75 billion will cater for local governments, 95.26 billion for public Universities, 43.77 billion for examination bodies, 100 billion for all missions abroad, 124.63 billion will cater for National Council of Sports including payment of AFCON commitment fees.

The document also indicate that 22.58 billion was released for Referral hospitals as operational funds, 153.60 for parliament of Uganda, 47.40 billion for Judiciary, 22.67 billion for KCCA and 253.30 for Ministry of Defense and veterans affairs among others.

The money is realesed after the president assented to the appropriation bill ,which he had earier declined to sign citing corruption by Mps while allocating the funds, the parliament reconsidered the bill and reallocated funds to areas which the President had requested. 

During the reconsideration of the bill ,the money that had been allocated for purchase of ambulances was taken to other sectors.
