The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has closed its offices and  ordered all staff members to work from home as cases of COVID-19 continues to escalate countrywide. 

According to a circular issued today, all heads of Department, units,sections and regional offices should matain a 30% all presence as directed by President Museveni.

 Justice Jane Frances Abodo, the DPP has further directed that only serious cases and those that pose a threat to public order and disharmony will be registered in court for plea takings for tge next 42days.

She has further directed that investigations are done and completed in Covid-19 related enforcement cases before sanctioning such cases and that bail should not be objected to.

Justice Abodo has also ordered that all criminal cases that are urgent are brought to her attention and that police should release persons on miner crimes on police bond.

She has suspended any meetings with only electronic communications allowed, and that only the office of the registry will remain open to receive written complaints.

Justice Anido  has appealed to those who will remain working to observe the Standard Operating Procedures as set up by the ministry of health among other Measures including testing .
