Alliance For National Transformation Party President Gen.Mugusha Muntu has said that  President Museveni and the NRM are unable to curb Corruption.

Mugisha Muntu's remark came after Prseident Museveni in his 2021 State of the Nation Address stated that he will employ Children of the Rich NRA Descendants of the Resistance Army to fight corruption in his sixth term of office.

According to Muntu,  President Museveni's statement is disturbing because it intends to imply that  Ugandans who are poor are responsible for their poverty and that Children from rich Families are incorruptible.

The President's remarks are a veiled admission that his government has failed to fight corruption and has no idea on how to confront this monster, this is not surprising because under his watch, Corruption continues to grow, and millions of Ugandans continue to wallow in poverty

He quoted the 2019/2020 National Household survey report released by UBOS that indicated that more than 8 million Ugandans are living below the poverty line.

Gen.Muntu said that information showed that at least 1 trillion US dollars is paid in bribes annually and an estimated 2.6 trillion  dollars is stolen through Corruption which he said is an equivalent of morethan 5% of the global gross domestic product.

Gen.Muntu wondered why the government continues to spend billions of shillings paying the Inspector General of Government, the anti corruption Court unit in the President's office, and the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament which are mandated to curb Corruption.

According to Gen.Muntu, the high levels of poverty and Corruption are evidence of NRMs poor Leadership and commitment to adress the inequalities in the Country.

"Corruption has been birthed and natured by the NRM regime. It is therefore not surprising that they are unable to fight it." Gen.Muntu said.

He called on President Museveni to own the alleged failures stating that Ugandans deserved better,  respect and a government that cares and is accountable.
