One dies in Fort Portal fire

One person has been confirmed dead on spot and six others were critically injured in the last evening fire broke out at Kisenyi area in Western town of Fort portal in Kabarole district.

The evening fire started at around at 9 pm at Kisenyi area near the bus park in Fortportal town where a track carrying, merchandise, fuel in jerrycans and plastic tank caught fire killing one person on spot left six others in critical condition.

According to Director Fire and Emergency rescue services in Uganda police Joseph Mugisa the truck registration number UAW 038 N was carrying fuel from Katoke to Kyenjonjo got jammed and caught fire left nearby shops and other vehicle burnt.

Mugisa adds that the vehicle got burnt belonging to Arinaitwe Raymond ,a motorcycle, three shops were destroyed completely .

Mugisa further adds that one person who died in a fire was not part of fire fighting effort, and also not part of the clue of the truck got burnt,he jump on the truck to remove some of the goods that was burning.

He identified the deceased as Mwesigye Kiyaye 37 years and those injured are Jane aged 25 a resident of Rwengoma, Mrs Isiah 27 years also resident of

Rwengoma, Friday Robert 46 years, resident of Kidukulu, Musinguzi Julius 32 years resident of Kyakaboja, Nyakaguma Stephen 27 years resident of Kijura, Kagaba Christopher 47 years of Mwenge village Kyenjonjo.

He adds that great save was made on shops and other building who were close to the incident as investigation to find what caused the fire is on going.
