A new retail chain store has opened business in Uganda. The South African based PEP retail store has set up shop in the capital Kampala dealing mainly in children, women, and men’s wear.

The store situated along Plot 2 Luwum Street predominantly deals in clothing, footwear home ware, baby products and textiles with a bias on the value market Pepkor Africa Managing Director Charl Cronje reveals that their aim is to sell items at the lowest possible price under the tag “Best prices and more!”

“PEP offers the best prices consistently and our products are available in all sizes and colors. We give Money back guarantee in case you are not happy with our product” Charl Cronje told guests who turned up for the store official opening on Thursday.

The event was graced by the presence of South Africa’s High commissioner to Uganda H.E Prof. Major General [retired] Lekoa Solly Mollo.

Under the Money back guarantee, a PEP customer can return a product to the store and gets back the money he paid for the item, alternatively he or she is free to choose another good in lieu of the product returned.

He noted that Pep is businesses that’s serious about local talent development and pledged to create numerous jobs for Ugandans.

He announced that PEP is planning to open up 20 more stores in Uganda by June next year as they explore and contribute to the economic growth of the East African country.

He hailed Uganda’s high fertility currently standing at 5.89 and the country’s GDP growth at 4.9 % which he said were good for investing and doing business in Uganda.

Established in 1965 in Cape Town, Pepkor is a South African based investment and holding company with business interests in Africa, Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand among others.

PEP has 1800 retail stores in South Africa. Other stores are spread in Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Nigeria and now Uganda.

Mr. Cronje noted that Pepkor is built on four pillars: shareholder, customers, the dynamos or PEP staff and service providers.   Another store will be opening soon at Park Royale along Kampala road.
