Police has deployed heavily at Wandegeya market to avert possible violence that may occur as a result of protest against an interim the management of the market.

This came about after the former executive that was managing the market headed by Hajji maweje Mutesasira stormed the market demanding the interim executive chaired by Gitta Jonathan to vacate the market and allow the vendors to elect the leaders of their own choice.

The vendors headed by Mutesasira claim that the interim executive appointed by the former executive director Kampala capital city authority Jenifer Musisi is overdue and has ma Muteesasira’s group are demanding for immediate election instead of KCCA imposing on them someone they don’t want.

The vendors are complaining about exorbitant rental fees for stalls from what was set by KCCA. They say they are charged between 25000 shillings to 40000 shillings instead of the fees by KCCA of 65000 shillings.

The interim committee was supposed to work for a period of one year but up to now it is still in office. Both Gita Jonathan the interim executive and the former executive

chairman Mutesasira Maweje have been taken to Wandegeya police to record the statements on the matter.

Wandegeya market was constructed under the market and agriculture trade improvement project.
