Pre-entry exams for medical student interns

By Alice Lubwama

The ministry health has developed internship guidelines; where medical students will be given pre entry exams before they are taken on to do internships as medical doctors.

The acting director general of health services in the ministry of health Professor Anthony Mbonye was responding to journalists at the Uganda media center, on why the ministry had not paid the interns in various hospitals in the country.

Mbonye says that the ministry has not paid the interns allowances because the number of interns has almost tripled from the original number the ministry had budgeted for.

Mbonye further say that the pre entry exams will reduce on the number of interns coming from  private institutions since the  ministry is also doubting  the quality of the students graduating from these institutions .
