On Sunday 16th January 2022, a Police Constable (PC) Mukebezi Robert was shot in the leg by a suspected Uganda Police Defense Force Soldier, he was rushed to hospital and his leg was later amputated to save his life.

Following such incidents , the Police Spokes Person Fred Enanga came out and told the public that there plans of equipping traffic officers on duty  with fire arms citing the increased attacks on them, #GaetanoAndLucky discussed whether it’s the right direction for Uganda to take.

On her part, Lucky agreed with police and said that if traffic is going to get them the violent motorists, its right to give traffic officers guns but after training them for the effective use.

However she cautioned  that guns should be given to a few, like their leaders noting that if every traffic officer is given a gun, they may misuse them.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire  explained that the procurement process was passed and they are soon receiving the fire arms adding that the president recognised this last year in June.

He further assured civilians that these  officers already went through all the necessary training and that they very well  know the discipline that comes with having a gun. 

He also said that it's unfortunate that the Police Constable had to lose his leg due to someone's negligence adding that the police and the UPDF are on a hunt for the UPDF soldier that shot at PC Robert.
