National Netball team receives 100 M support a head of World Cup

The National Netball team, she Cranes has received a financial support of Ugsh100m from paint company Plascon to help facilitate the team during fourth-coming Netball World Cup which will commence on 28th July 2023 in  Cape Town - South Africa.

Fred Mugerwa the She Cranes head coach says that, the sponsorship is timely adding that the team target remain going past group stages and they will negotiate other stages of the tournament after that.

Uganda’s She Cranes will open their campaign against Singapore on Friday, July 28 and then face New Zealand on Saturday, July 29 before taking on Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, July 30.

‘’The netball world cup has come at a time when Uganda has just dropped in international rankings and they will be working on improving from 8th at least to 6th where the team was’ ’Mugerwa says.

For his part, Daniel Kayongo, brand and marketing manager at Plascon has noted that, they have seen different sports financially struggling hence a move to support where they can.

‘’The paints manufacturing company has extended its support to the She Cranes to assist the team’s preparations ahead of the upcoming Netball World Cup’’. he added..

The company has also used the same platform announce a new campaign dubbed She Cranes Twaaken.

According to Santosh Gumte, Managing Director the campaign meant to rally support for the team before, during and after the world cup tournament.

‘’In this campaign, we are calling upon all Ugandans to follow and support the girls on all media platforms, buy and wear the jersey. We shall have a number of activations especially online to engage the fans.’’ He says.

On her part, the She cranes team captain Irene Eyaru has commended the company from the support and she promised Ugandans to expect only best from the team.

It is exactly 23 days to the prestigious Netball World Cup in South Africa and the momentum is building towards boiling point
