Uganda Volleyball Lady Cranes have sailed through to the quarter finals of the African Nations volleyball Championship in Cameroon.
The Ugandan team defeated Burkinafaso 3 straight sets to make it to the quarter finals on Sunday. At the end of the game the score was 25-14, 25-12, 25-18 for the lady cranes.
Team manager Allen Kagusuru said, Power attacker Joan Kushemereirwe and Catherine Ainembabazi the Force, stood out in the game to ensure that the Volleyball lady cranes “break and collect the points we need”
The Uganda volleyball lady Cranes will now play Egypt in the quarter finals.
“We are into the quarter finals, the best eight teams. Being that we are number four in our group we take on the first in group A” said Kagusuru the team manager.
The team is now preparing and are looking forward to playing Egypt on Tuesday.
“It’s a technically well-built team; they have played together for a very long time. Right now we need more bullets in the setting section where the setter is doing her very best. We hope she really takes the game home” manager Kagusuru commented on the game coming ahead with Egypt
The team registered a setback on Saturday when they were beaten by Rwanda 3 sets
In other draws, Rwanda will play Algeria, Kenya will tussle it out with Nigeria while Morocco will take on hosts Cameroon in the quarterfinals
The team under the leadership of Coach Tony Lakony and his assistant Mariam Nakamya had a tough game against Morocco on Thursday but registered a win. They defeated Morocco 3-2.
Last Wednesday the Uganda Volleyball Lady Cranes registered their first victory over Lesotho 3-0.
