Chicken tonight employees sent to jail for assaulting Katatumba

Three male employees of Chicken Tonight  Restaurant Kabalagala branch  have been charged  and remanded to Luzira prison in relation to the assault of local artist Angela Katatumba early this month.

The suspect include 26 year old Olubrworth Chuka, the manager,  Okirot Denis a guard and a 19 year old waiter Kaddu John .
The three appeared before Makindye court chief magistrate Elias Kakoza and pleaded not guilty to three counts of theft, doing grievance harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecution states that the trio, on 1st April 2018, at Kabalagala Makindye division, stole cash worthy 6.2million shillings, the property of Angella Katatumba.
Prosecution further states that on the same day, the security guard at the same place, unlawfully caused grievance harm to Angella Katatumba.
These are also accused of assaulting a one Oneil Burke occasioning him actual bodily harm.
The suspects have been remanded until the 4th of May this year as investigations into the case continues.


Angella Katatumba of the ambassador of Uganda Bikers Association and founder of Angella Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) flagged off a charity bike ride to raise money for the Mulago cancer institute.

The charity rides that will traverse several parts of the country will be headed by Uganda Bikers.

This long ride is geared towards raising money for the Mulago Cancer Institute under Singer Angella Katatumba’s ‘Mulago Yaffe’ Campaign.

Speaking at the inaugural event Cafe Javas Nakawa after the bikers had come back from a ride to Jinja via, Angella Katatumba said its everybody’s responsibility to ensure that we build a better health system for ourselves.

The Uganda Bikers are enthusiastic people, who own and ride huge expensive motorcycles. They love, pimp, and treasure their bikes.

They thoroughly enjoy riding them for short and long distances in and outside Uganda, with a charitable cause.

They were formed in 2003 and for the last 12 years, they have consistently donated over 117 Million Uganda shillings to Reach Out Mbuya, which is a Kids home for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.



Local musician Angella katatumba has been appointed the chairperson of the Uganda bikers association.

The Uganda Bikers Association will now work with the local musician in the Mulago Yaffe Campaign to raise money for the Mulago Cancer institute and have also chosen Angella Katatumba to be their Honorary Ambassador.

The Uganda Bikers that was formed in 2003, has raised funds for campaigns in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and raising food for displaced people in  Northern Uganda among others.

Who is she
Angella Katatumba is Ugandan Singer and Songwriter. Daughter to H.E Bonny Katatumba, a Ugandan consul to Pakistan. Angella Katatumba is also the only daughter among a family of eight children for The Katatumbas.She is a playful and quite stubborn lady.
Who has had a glaring academic life and was always number one. Angella is also the twin of Rugiirwa Allan Katatumba, she did part of her secondary education at Katatumba Academy in Western Uganda Mbarara and the other in Vancouver, Canada. There after she went to Oxford Brookes University in England, where she attained a degree in Economics, a Law degree and a Masters in human resource management.
Upon completing her last degree, Katatumba was blessed to work for famous Hollywood actor and singer Isaac Hayes, as an assistant general manager for his Chicago restaurant called Isaac Hayes. It was from Chicago that Angella also got to meet a number of music stars like R.Kelly, Alicia keys who inspired into music She has also been the Managing Director of Hotel Diplomat located at Tank Hill in Muyenga which is part of the Katatumba Group of companies.
Katatumba is one of the popular but silent Ugandan artists who have dedicated most of her efforts into charity. An evident caring and loving heart for her people, Angela for her past has done a number of music projects featuring peace reconciliation and help for the needy. She is also a founder of the charity organization called Angella Katatumba Development Foundation that was started to raise funds to help the needy people in northern Uganda a part that has been affected by wars and unsettlement for the past 23 years.
Angella is looking forward into charity. She has got much more involved in projects that are going to empower the people of northern Uganda and Gulu. She in the past handed over assets worth over 10M Uganda shillings to Rwot Achan the traditional leader of Gulu. Angella is currently working as Diplomat is The Katatumba Group of companies.
Singing career
Angella has done songs like , Let Me, Peace, I Live for You,For You Gulu, Let Me, Sikyetaga one of her most popular and first ever hit tunes, . Angella has also had some collaborations with popular Artists Like Buchaman in a song twagala emilembe (Peace), Bebe Cool sikyetaga where she and munene were talking about now accepted love , Angella has since 2005 never made any step back, her One Minute Man made it all for in her only and first year of music. Angella got it even bigger with Buchaman in the peace song so much more with Bebe cool. In a reminder about Angella’s music background, At 17, while at a university in the UK, Katatumba won a talent show and impressed her dean of students, so much that he gave her number out to wedding organisers to hire her to sing. At the height of this stint, Katatumba was making up to 300 pounds at Ponanas, Oxford. Angella has for the past done a number of fund raising for the people in Gulu and was the only artist and lady chosen by the international community to compose and make a song that could be a way to restore hope and peace for the people in Gulu, Better Listen To the song For You Gulu.

The Intensive Care Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital was closed as a result of a shortage of bacterial filters – an important component used with ventilators which protect patients from germs and infections coming from the machines through the tubes as well as making the air moist enough for the patient to take in.

It was re-opened on Friday 2nd November 2012 after several days of closure that resulted in the reported deaths of five people who would have probably been kept alive on the unit’s life support machines according to the Daily Monitor newspaper of Monday 5 November 2012.

Angella Katatumba a Ugandan Singer and Songwriter has donated ten million shillings to Mulago Hospital intensive care unit for the purchase of a photo therapy machine and a syringe pump.

Angella hands over the money to the supplier of the machine.

The donation is part of the Mulago yafe campaign aimed at raising awarness towards better health services and good sanitation standards at Mulago Hospital under the Angella katatumba,a charity based organisation.

Katatumba 5This initiative has been supported by Gordon Wavamuno, Kampala Pharmaceutical Industries, Boney Katatumba and Smart Telecom.

The photo therapy machine helps premature babies at the intensive care unit get warmth and light.

Angella looks at a baby in a photo therapy machine similar to the one she has donated.

The cash donation was handed over to the supplier of the machine that will be used at the intensive care unit at the hospital.

Katatumba’s action has been warmly welcomed by the community which has called upon politicians to borrow a leaf from this deed. She has as well been assured of the peoples’ vote in case she stands for an elective position in Ugandan politics.
