Two security guards arrested after fierce fight

Police in Mukono has arrested two security guards for attempted murder.

Its alleged that on Wednesday night in Namilyango, Mukono District, Francis Andama, a Security guard attached to SEK Security Company Services armed with Star rifle with five bullets, had a misunderstanding with Daniel Amala, 48, also a watchman. According to Patrick Onyango, Amala escorted his girlfriend and on coming back the Andama refused to open for him and his friend Richard Bwire.

Amala then forced himself in and a quarrel ensued Andama fired bullets and shot Amala in the right arm.

Police was informed and responded to the scene and arrested two suspects in the custody are Andama and Bwire.

They are to be charged with attempted murder and both are detained at Seeta Police Station while exhibits that include cartridges and a star rifle are in store.

Karamoja, Kasese top in districts with most outdated machine guns

Over 6000 outdated machine guns have been destroyed by national focal point  an organisation under the ministry of internal affairs.

According to the coordinator national focal point on small arms and light weapons Okello Makmot,the guns are collected from different parts of the country and most of these guns are got from Kasese and Karamoja.

Speaking at the destruction site at Bukasa  Wakiso district Okello said that SMGs like Ak47 are commonly used in crimes because are easy to operate.

He however assured Ugandans that the situation of security in the country is fine despite some crimes registered but government is doing what they can to control fire arms.

Kifeesi gang member shot while stealing a gun from police officer

Police in Kampala last night shot dead a member of a group of city thugs known as Kifeesi crew who attempted to steal a gun  from  a police officer during an operation.

Patrick Onyango the police spokesperson Kampala metropolitan says Musa Katerega was killed after he hit the police man with a brick during an operation mounted in Kakajo zone in Kampala central division. He says another thug escaped with bullet wounds after police intercepted them as they grabbed bags and money from women who were returning home from work last evening. Onyango says that police stormed Dembe bar  in Busabala  which the goons have been using as meeting place, arrested more than  60 Kifeesi members and recovered stolen items including  hand bags,  mobile phones.

He says police also impounded a taxi that has been transporting the thugs in an around Kampala.  Those arrested are being detained at Katwe police station and will be arraigned in court on Friday
