Shifrah Lukwago joins race for Kawempe North Parliamentary seat

The race for Kawempe North parliamentary seat continues to get momentum with another politician seeking to contest for the seat on people power ticket.

The latest is former Kampala city speaker Hajjati Shifrah Lukwago joining the race.

Other aspirants who have already returned their forms at people power movement headquarters in Kamyokya include incumbent Latif Ssebagala, DPs and also former Kampala deputy lord mayor Erias Lukwago and KCCA lord Councillor Muhammad Segerinya.

However,People power announced that they will not be going through primaries but selection will be through consensus.

People power further revealed that if this consensus failed then they have no option but to have everybody contest.

Police flying squad arrests panga wielding thugs

The Police flying squad unit has arrested nine criminals who were actively involved in criminal activities in areas Kampala and surrounding areas like Kawempe, Salama, Entebbe, Mukono, among other areas . According to police, these criminals use of pangas and break in equipment to terrorize the people.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson said that the suspects were arrested in the operations that were conducted by the police flying squad together with the territorial police commanders following the increased incidents of attacks on people by panga wielding thugs.

Enanga added that during the operation several exhibits which included television sets and pangas were recovered from the base of these criminal gang found in Bakuli, Rubaga division and Kasangati and he also appealed to the people who have ever been attacked and robbed by these thugs to get in touch with their territorial police areas to follow up there cases.

He further noted that suspects arrested includes Ssewankambo Medi, Ssenyonjo Hamidu alias muno muno, Kalumba, Kassim, Kwezira Maricelo, Karaali Muhammad, Mawanda Sharif, Tumusiime Rogers, Ssendagire John Paul, Ssekyanzi Denis were arrested after the death of their gang leader Ssejjemba Farouk who was killed in Kiteezi during the robbery.

Enanga adds that they are also looking for two other criminal suspects who are on run who including Hussein Byenda and another one known as Edgar Watson who are on run

In a related Development Fred Enanga appealed to the public to remain vigilant in this week as they prepare for Christmas slated for next week because the criminals are out their planning for them

Police finds contract killer

Police in Kampala have killed a suspected thug alleged to be behind the killing and aggravated robberies in areas like Luweero, Kawempe, Nangabo, Makindye, Mukono and others areas.

According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Corporal Tindimwebwa Kenneth was arrest in Nakasongola district with a gun but in a process of resisting he was short and later died in Mulago.

Upon investigation police have got incriminating evidence showing that he was the leader of a group that killed Nakawa Juliet in Mukono after robbing 7 million from her, it’s the same suspect who killed Sewaka Husein a police officer in Luweero and several others .

Police has discovered 688 rounds of a munitions, one AK47, 14 phones, airtime, and identity cards of some of people he has been killing.

In the same investigation, police has arrested Ibrahim Mbabaali a badaboda cyclist who has been offering him with transport and Nambi Marium who is the wife to the deceased to help in more investigations.
