Rihanna, Lupita to star in new movie after viral twitter meme

Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o are set to star in a buddy movie for director Ava DuVernay after a tweet of the two went viral.

The Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-nomimnated actor were pictured together at a Miu Miu fashion show in 2014, which was then used as part of a joke movie pitch on Twitter in April.

“Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans,” read the tweet, which has now received over 96,000 retweets (It’s since been reported that the original idea actually came from Tumblr). Both stars then expressed interest in the idea on Twitter, followed by Selma director DeVernay and Insecure writer Issa Rae.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the internet-created project was pitched to studios at this year’s Cannes film festival and Netflix has come out on top after a very aggressive bid. It’s unclear yet as to whether the film will follow the same idea as the initial tweet.

Netflx are reportedly eyeing the film for a 2018 release after DuVernay has finished her adaptation of fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris Pine, Oprah Winfrey, Andre Holland and Reese Witherspoon. Her acclaimed Netflix documentary 13th was recently nominated for an Oscar.

Ugandan star inspired movie, Queen of Katwe will be out in September

Biographical drama about Ugandan chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi, ‘The Queen of Katwe’ will be released late September this year, Disney has confirmed.

This follows release of the film’s first image in early January starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), David Oyelowo (Selma), and Madina Nalwanga.

Disney slotted director Mira Nair’s next picture Queen Of Katwe onto its release schedule, with a limited debut on September 23 and a theatrical expansion a week later.

The Queen of Katwe is based on Tim Crothers’ 2011 ESPN The Magazine article and the book The Queen Of Katwe: A Story Of Life, Chess, And One Extraordinary Girl’s Dream Of Becoming A Grandmaster.

Nyong’o plays Phiona’s mother, and Oyelowo plays a missionary who teaches chess to local kids.

Nalwanga plays as Mutesi, a young girl from the slums of Kampala who chases her dream of becoming an international chess champion.

When Mutesi was about nine, and had already dropped out of school as her family could not afford to send her, she found a chess program run by the Sports Outreach Institute, which taught her how to play chess.

In 2010 she played six rounds on Board 2 and one round on Board 1 for Uganda at the 39th World Chess Olympiad scoring 1.5 points from the seven, and as of 2011 she was a three-time Women’s Junior Champion of Uganda.

Lupita flashes accidentally flashes her undie

Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o is known for her fashion sense, amazing beauty and flawless toned body. But it seems that it’s not always about the glitz and glamour.

Lupita was recently accused of being manipulative and alienating her co-stars in the Broadway-bound play Eclipsed with her backstage antics and now, it happens that for once in her acting career the A-list actress, experienced a wardrobe malfunction.

Lupita’s black mini-skirt was so short, she flashed her panty while exiting her car in Manhattan on Thursday evening 5th November.

The 32-year-old Oscar winner, who was wearing sunglasses at night, paired her mini with a patterned top beneath a navy blazer and high-heeled booties.
