Court orders 16 to clean Makindye division

Makindye magistrate court has ordered 16 people who were found gathered in a motor vehicle garage to clean Makindye division offices for two hours.

The 16 led by Isaac Ssali have appeared before Makindye court chief magistrate Prosy Katushabe and pleaded guilty to doing an act likely to spread a disease COVID-19.

While sentencing them, the magistrate ruled that the convicts were first time offenders, did not waste courts time and resources by pleading guilty to the offense and had been on remand at Kitalya government prison close to three weeks is enough.

Prosecution states that on the 29th of April 2020 at around 1pm at Ndeeba in Kampala district were found gathered in a group at a garage and selling spare parts well knowing that such acts will spread Covid 19.

Government condemns the recent attack

Government has come out to condemn the recent attack of Makindye magistrates’ court by a group of alleged Pro-Kahira supporters.

Last week the group attacked the court protesting the trial of the police boss Gen Kale Kayihura and 7 other officers’ against police brutality and torture.

While addressing the media today the minister of internal affair Jeje Odong says government does not tolerate such unlawful acts.

He describes the actions as interference to the constitutional duty of courts and judicial officers.

The minister adds that government will do all in its power to ensure that such acts do not occur again.

The acts by the goons have also been condemned by the Chief Justice Bart Katurebe and the Uganda Law society.

Police detains Besigye.

Former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has been arrested by police after running battles with police at clock tower.

Col. Kizza Besigye and lord mayor Elias Lukwago today morning appeared before Makindye grade one magistrate court where the case was dismissed without any charges.

From Makindye court Besigye was waving at his supporters who were standing along the road. On reaching clock tower, the running battles started as police blocking him from using city center.

Col Besigye decided to use Kisenyi. Along this road, police commanded by Deputy RPC Kampala south Geofrey Kahebwa again blocked him and he was asked to use Mukwano road.

Besigye who was heading to Katonga when police blocked him at Kitgum house. Dr Besigye asked Ruhweza  to access my lawyers at Uganda house since he had been blocked from accessing his office. This request was not granted.

Kampala operations commander James Ruhweza ordered to tower Besigye vehicles at Jinja road traffic lights and now Dr Besigye is detained at Jinja road police station.

 

Police finds contract killer

Police in Kampala have killed a suspected thug alleged to be behind the killing and aggravated robberies in areas like Luweero, Kawempe, Nangabo, Makindye, Mukono and others areas.

According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Corporal Tindimwebwa Kenneth was arrest in Nakasongola district with a gun but in a process of resisting he was short and later died in Mulago.

Upon investigation police have got incriminating evidence showing that he was the leader of a group that killed Nakawa Juliet in Mukono after robbing 7 million from her, it’s the same suspect who killed Sewaka Husein a police officer in Luweero and several others .

Police has discovered 688 rounds of a munitions, one AK47, 14 phones, airtime, and identity cards of some of people he has been killing.

In the same investigation, police has arrested Ibrahim Mbabaali a badaboda cyclist who has been offering him with transport and Nambi Marium who is the wife to the deceased to help in more investigations.
