For sports lovers, this weekend was a packed one. You would think that with the top European leagues wrapped up, there will be little in way of activity...wrong!

First and foremost,91.3 Capital FM was in Fort Portal for the event dubbed #TulumbeFort that was very successful closing down the street with lots of entertainment and fun. Empaakos were earned and 89.4 was launched!

That was not the only thing happening in Fort, the 4th round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) the mountain of the moon rally also happened. Side bar the party that was at #MOTM...HO!

But, there was dust eating and fast cars, and in the end Jas Mangat took top honours, Desh Kananura was 2nd and Adam Essa completed the podium. There was a 4th place finish for Susan Muwonge and special mention for Ambrose Byona who came 5th.

It was a tough weekend for Ronald Ssebuguzi after the car gave out having put on a great display in the super special stage.

Back in Kampala, Uganda and Kenya will renewed their rivalry in the battle for Migingo at the Legends Rugby ground and it was a massacre for Team Uganda! Kenya 48-10 Uganda was the eventual score in the Elgon Cup first leg.

The team is expected to travel to South Africa for a 12-day camp where they will get support from Cheetahs Rugby Club and regroup for the 2nd leg that will double as an Africa Cup fixture.

While one Cranes side was getting annihilated, the Football Cranes were enjoying better luck winning 2-1 away in Botswana in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers match.

That Kizito Luwagga goal needs to be framed and replayed forever! With one game against Comoros at home left, here is the math; Burkina Faso the other team in group D also won which takes them to 10 points but with Liberia and Tunisia drawing 2-2 this weekend, the quest for qualification after 39 years looks brighter because Cranes can qualify as one of the best 2nd placed sides if they can beat Comoros in September. It's tougher math’s but let’s leave it at that.

Elsewhere, the French Open came to a close with Novak Djokovic completing a major feat. Djokovic became the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand slams. Serena Williams didn't fare better losing to Garbine Muguruza in straight sets.

It was Muguruza's first grand slam title. This weekend also saw the world mourn legendary boxer Mohammed Ali who passed away at the age of 74. And of course the NBA finals today morning, the Golden-state Warriors moved into a commanding position with a 110-77 demolition of the Cleveland Cavaliers to take a 2-0 lead.
