Over twenty convicted for illegal hawking

Over 20 hawkers have been arraigned before City Hall Court and all pleaded guilty for hawking without hawkers licenses.

They have appeared before a grade one magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise who read the charges to them and accepted.

However, after pleading guilty to the offenses the magistrate convicted them and handed them different punishments.

Some were ordered to pay a court fine of 100,000shillings, others 150,000shillings while some sentenced to a community service.

All the convicts committed the offense on June 17th 2019 from different streets around the city.

They were arrested vending Tomatoes, pan cakes, Mandazi and Sambusas.
