Uganda Heart institute doctors worried about merger

By Alice Lubwama
The Uganda heart institute has expressed fears that the merger of the institution will affect its operations.

The director of the institute Dr. John Omangino says that the institute now requires super specialized health workers who have put in much time to attain these qualifications noting that by merging it back to Mulago hospital it will undermine the specialists there.

Omagino further said that specialized health workers at the heart institute are now handing in their resignation letters to look for green pastures claiming that the services they offer cannot be recognized by ulago hospital according to the public service standard orders.

He raised the matter as the ministry of health had appeared before the health committee of parliament to present their budget framework papers for the financial year 2019/20.

It’s here still the Uganda heart institute cried out loud for lack of space where to operate from and called parliament to approve the 259bn loan shillings requested by ministry of health for the construction of Uganda heart institute home at Mulago.
