Woman jailed for withdrawing deceased's money

A 59 year old woman has been charged with withdrawing over 77 million Uganda shillings belonging to a deceased person.

The suspect is identified as Tumwijukye Florence Kamuhanda a resident of Makanga village in Kabale municipality, Kabale district.

She appeared before Buganda road court grade one magistrate Robert Mukanza who charged her with two counts of theft contrary to section 25 (1) 261 of the penal code act and inter meddling with the property of the deceased contrary to section 11(1)and( 2 )of the administrator General act of 159.

She has however pleaded not guilty and remanded to Luzira prison until next month for hearing of her case.

Prosecution states that Tumwijukye Florence Kamuhanda and others still at large on the 2nd day of February 2018 at DFCU bank Kampala road Branch central division in Kampala district without being dully Authorized by the law or without Authority of the administrator general inter meddled with the property of the deceased, the late Komuhanda John Wycliff to want money amounting to seventy seven million one hundred Twenty two thousand shillings.

She is also accused of stealing the said money by withdrawing it on the same day at the same place.
