Miss USA Noelia Voigt resigns due to mental health challenges

Noelia Voigt  resigned her Miss USA title less than a year after winning the competition due to mental health challenges.           

The 24-year-old Venezuelan-American, from Utah who won the annual competition in September 2023 , announced her resignation on Instagram .

She captioned the lengthy statement with: “I realize this may come as a large shock to many. Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth.

 

 

She said that she hoped to "continue to inspire others" as she started "a new chapter" in life.

She  expressed her gratitude for her seven months as Miss USA, which she said gave her a platform  to make a difference as well as realize a lifelong dream .

Miss USA responded through a post and applauded   Ms Voigt for her service and wished her the best for her next chapter and would announce a successor.

The institution wrote: “We respect and support Noelia’s decision to step down from her duties.

 Ms Voigt was the third Miss Utah to win and the first in 63 years. she went to the University of Alabama, is a licensed esthetician and the author of a children’s book called Maddie the BRAVE, inspired by a girl who killed herself after being the victim of bullying.
