Fire the state minister- Women

By Alice Lubwama

Women activists under their umbrella organization Uganda Women Network have asked president Museveni to relieve the state minister for water Ronald Kibuule of his duties, saying he is a shame to cabinet.

The demand to fire Kibuule from cabinet follows reports that he assaulted a female security guards at one of the banks in Mukono.

While addressing a news conference in Kampala this morning the executive director UWONET Ritah Aciro said as women they are disappointed with that a state actor can conduct himself in such a manner.

The women also call police to expeditiously investigate the case and prosecute the suspect so he serves as a lesson for others who would engage in similar criminal acts irrespective of the economic stature.

The women say this is not the first time this same minister condones violence against women, in 2013, he made a statement encouraging men to rape women who are indecently dressed, but following pressure he retracted the statement.
