MAKERERE TO HOST TURKISH PRESIDENT

Roads leading to Makerere university main gate have been closed. Makerere Hill road, Gadafi road and Sir Apollo Kagwa junction to the university have all been sealed off.

Traffic from Gadafi road has been directed to Sir Apollo Kagwa road or makes a U-turn. The road from Wandegeya traffic lights is only accessible by identified vehicles.

Makerere University is under heavy security deployment as it will host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a function where he will receive an honorary degree.

H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived late Tuesday in Uganda on a two-day official visit. He is expected to meet with his counterpart H.E Yoweri Museveni today and other local officials.

President Erdogan was welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by foreign minister Hon. Sam Kutesa, and Daudi Migereko, minister of lands.

President Museveni will host Erdogan at the State House in Entebbe, where both leaders will hold bilateral talks followed by a press conference. Later, president Erdogan will head to Makerere University,.

Erdogan is on a four day official visit to East Africa. He will later fly to Kenya today.
