Political wrangles are the major causes of low revenue- minister

By Robert Segawa.

Minister for Kampala Betty Namisango Kamya has advised Kampala Capital City Authority division chairpersons to put a side political difference and work for the betterment of Kampala city.

Kamya made the remarks while opening a revenue mobilization workshop at Royal Suite hotel Bugolobi.

The minister said that its time for divisional chairpersons and councilors to forget their political party differences and focus on a point of serving the people of Kampala who elected them.

She noted that Kampala political wrangles are the major causes of low revenue returns by bringing street vendors because they voted them and yet they do not pay taxes to the city authority.

Sam Sserunkuma the director revenue KCCA also explained that Kampala politics which started in April last year to February this year hindered KCCA from meeting their revenue collection target of Ug120bn leading to collection of only Ug80bn.
