Amooti, Malaika nominated for NESPAS Awards 2024

The comedian legendary Allan Mujuni a.k.a Amooti Omubalanguzi and Former Capital FM's evening drive show  presenter Malaika Tenshi are among many personalities who made it to the final list of National Events Service Providers' Awards -NESPAS 2024.

Amooti was nominated under the category of comedian while  Malaika was nominated under the category of Master of ceremony-MC .

Other nominees include Swangz Avenue, Deejay Shiru, Salvado,Fun Factory Uganda ,Abeeka Band, Baitu promoters among others.

NESPAS seeks to reward, acknowledge, recognize, appreciate and promote events service providers for their pivotal contribution towards Uganda’s event service industry.

National Events Service Providers’ Awards (NESPAS) scheduled to take place on Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 at Kampala Serena hotel under the theme “Celebrating the Art of Excellence and Hospitality in Uganda’s Events Service Industry”.

Speaking to media shortly after unveiling the nominee list in Kampala, the President of NESPAS,  Mugisha Abel advised Events Service Providers to embrace the culture of formalizing the Businesses as this will ease their growth and sustainability.

Mugisha also asked the government to target funding sectors that intend to promote the country’s tourism sector  noting that they play a big role in attracting tourists and job creation.

"The sector of Events Service Providers has lot of art and creativity that would attract more tourists through numerous ways including the local food prepared". Mugisha said.

According to him, despite the efforts being made, policymakers have made little strides to put in place favorable policies to help these companies to tap into opportunities to make them thrive.

Currently, the Services sector has continued to be the biggest contributor to the country’s GDP growth with a share of 42.4%, followed by the Industry sector with a share of 26%.
