Chidimma Adetshina   a South African-born beauty queen with Nigerian heritage , was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria after withdrawing from the Miss South contest last month August 2024.

The 23-year-old beauty queen, born to a Nigerian father and South African mother in South Africa and of South African citizenship, found herself the subject of a national row after some South Africans opposed her participation because of her roots  which led to her withdrawing from the competition.

Shortly after her withdrawal, Adetshina received an invitation from the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The invitation offered her the opportunity to represent her father's homeland on the international stage where   she was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, an achievement that brought her to tears.

Adetshina who  will represent Nigeria at the global Miss Universe pageant in Mexico in November 2024  expressed  joy  over the achievement through a post she shared on her social media platforms."This crown is not just for beauty; it's a call for unity," she said.
