DP unveils Waddimba as flag bearer for Kayunga by-election

The  opposition Democratic party has unveiled Anthony Waddimba Kaawonawo as the party flag bearer for the upcoming by-election for LCV chairperson for Kayunga district .

He was unveiled by the party president Norbert Mao at the party headquarters in Kampala.

President Mao noted that their candidate comes with experience in leadership and understands the area very well.

The campaign will run under the theme "taking back Kayunga district from Mafias who have captured it, to the hands of the people".

Mao further warned state operatives not to interfere with the campaign, and should allow the people of Kayunga to choose the next chairperson in a free and fair election.

Dp's candidate will compete Harriet Nakwedde the flag bearer for another opposition party the National Unity platform among others.

According to the electoral commission road map for the Kayunga by-election , the nomination of candidates will be conducted from 29th to 30th of November 2021.The campaigns will officially kickoff on 2nd of December and end on 14th of the same month.

The electoral commission has set 16th December this year as the polling date.

This seat fell vacant following the death of LC5 Chairperson FFefekka Sserubogo whose body was found hanging on a tree in his compound on 16th June this year. He belonged to the opposition National Unity Platform-NUP party led by singer now turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
